New Delhi: The Defence Analysis and Improvement Organisation (DRDO) on Friday introduced that it has efficiently test-fired enhanced vary variations of indigenously developed Pinaka rockets and 122mm Caliber Rockets from a Multi-Barrel Rocket Launcher (MBRL) at Built-in Check Vary (ITR), Chandipur off the coast of Odisha.
On Thursday and Friday, 25 enhanced Pinaka Rockets have been launched, in fast succession towards targets at totally different ranges. All of the mission goals have been met through the launches.
The improved vary model of Pinaka Rocket System can destroy targets at distances as much as 45 kms, mentioned the Ministry of Defence in an official assertion.
In the meantime, 4 enhanced vary model of 122mm Caliber Rockets have been test-fired with full instrumentation and so they met the entire mission goals.
These rockets have been developed for Military purposes and might destroy targets as much as 40 km. This enhanced rocket system would substitute the prevailing 122mm Grad rockets.
The rocket system has been developed collectively by Pune-based Armament Analysis and Improvement Institution (ARDE) and Excessive Power Supplies Analysis Laboratory (HEMRL) with manufacturing help from M/s Financial Explosives Restricted, Nagpur.
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has congratulated DRDO and the Trade on the profitable launch of enhanced Pinaka Rockets and 122mm Caliber Rockets.
Secretary, Division of Defence R&D and Chairman DRDO Dr G Satheesh Reddy recommended the efforts of the groups concerned within the profitable trials.
