Priyanka Gandhi Accuses UP Police Of Attacking Dalit Households In Azamgarh; Seeks Justice


Lucknow: Congress common secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday accused the Uttar Pradesh police of attacking Dalits in Azamgarh, and sought motion in opposition to the accused and ample compensation for the victims.

“Information about assault on Dalit households in Palia village in Azamgarh. Homes have been broken, and circumstances have been registered. This means the anti-Dalit mindset of the federal government. Rapid motion must be taken in opposition to the accused, and compensation must be given to the victims, she mentioned in a tweet in Hindi.

In line with police, there was a dispute between a health care provider and a few folks in Palia village below Raunapar police station space on June 29 following which two policemen posted at a picket intervened within the matter.

Police allege that the village pradhan and his aide attacked the policemen.

Azamgarh district unit president of Congress Praveen Kumar Singh claimed on the identical night time, police surrounded the Dalit hamlet within the village and broken their homes and looted them. After this, the boys and kids fled from the village, he mentioned.

“The Congressmen are staging a sit-in in opposition to the incident. We’re demanding that motion be taken in opposition to the responsible policemen and compensation be given to the households,” Singh mentioned.

In the meantime, Superintendent of Police Sudhir Kumar Singh mentioned a case has been registered in opposition to 11 named folks and 135 unidentified folks. He additionally mentioned that cops have been attacked, and efforts are on to catch the accused.
