As many as 349 candidates for the block panchayat chief polls in Uttar Pradesh have been declared elected unopposed on Friday, the final day for the withdrawal of nomination papers. Now, the elections shall be held for 476 posts on Saturday. In an announcement, State Election Commissioner Manoj Kumar stated 1,778 nomination papers have been acquired for 825 posts of the block panchayat chief, of which 68 have been cancelled and 187 withdrawn. Because of this, now 1,710 candidates will go into the elections on Saturday, he stated. Kumar stated the polling shall be held from 11 am to three pm and the counting will happen after that.
